The name of Jesus

The name of Jesus (Sixth part)

Verse of the day: Matthew 28:19 “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit”

In the first part, we ended the meditation by saying that a child of God must acknowledge Jesus before men because if I deny Him before men, He will deny me before His Father in heaven.

Today, I wish to talk about baptism in the name of Jesus because I noticed that there is a huge confusion among God’s children. All started with a doctrine saying that any baptism that is not done in the name of Jesus is a wrong baptism. People justify this by leaning of the verse of the day (Matt 28:19) when Jesus said to the disciples to baptize in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. They say that everywhere in the New Testament, all the baptisms have been done in the name of Jesus and not in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Let’s take the example of Acts 2:38 “Peter replied: Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit”. Let’s try to discover the revelation on the subject in order to avoid all kind of confusion. Let’s first examine the verse of the day: “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” (Matt 28:19). Jesus did not ask to baptize the disciples in the names (Plural) of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit but rather in the name (Singular)…which means that He wasn’t talking about three names of three people but one name of one God.

Baptism is a sign of obedience by accepting to die and to rise up with Jesus (Romans 6:3-4) and what counts is the faith with which we do it. Therefore, if one person is baptized in the name of Jesus and another person is baptized in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, both are baptized according to the command of the Lord.

Here is the end of the teaching and this is what must be remembered the most: we need to pray in order to get the revelation of the powerful name of Jesus because without it, it’s almost impossible to get a spiritual victory.

All that power in the name of Jesus is only possible to those who accepted Him as their Lord and their Savior.

Verset du jour : Ephésiens 1 :20-21 « Il l'a déployée en Christ, en le ressuscitant des morts, et en le faisant asseoir à sa droite dans les lieux célestes au-dessus de toute domination, de toute autorité, de toute puissance, de toute dignité, et de tout nom qui se peut nommer, non seulement dans le siècle présent, mais encore dans le siècle à venir »

Dans six parties, notre méditation sera basée sur l’interprétation et la compréhension du nom de Jésus.

Tout chrétien né de nouveau sait très bien que toute prière doit être faite au nom de Jésus mais à force de sonder les écritures, je me suis rendu compte qu’un grand nombre de croyants n’a pas encore la vraie révélation du nom de Jésus. C’est devenu une sorte de formule dans nos prières ou une sorte de réflexe ou automatisme à la fin de nos prières quand nous disons : « …au nom de Jésus ainsi je prie…Amen ».

Avant de creuser pour avoir la révélation spirituelle du nom de Jésus, parlons d’abord de Jésus Lui-même en essayant de comprendre son véritable pouvoir tel qu’il est décrit par la bible.

Le verset du jour (Ephésiens 1 :20-21) nous montre d’une manière très claire tout le pouvoir que Dieu a mis en Jésus et non seulement Il lui a donné un grand pouvoir mais Il l’a fait asseoir à sa droite dans les lieux célestes au-dessus de toute domination, de toute autorité, de toute puissance, de toute dignité, et de tout nom qui peut être nommé. Etre assis à la droite du père dans les lieux célestes veut dire : avoir son plein pouvoir sur toutes les forces et dominations spirituelles.

Jésus n’a pas seulement le pouvoir sur la terre, mais il l’a également au ciel comme Il le dit Lui-même dans Matthieu 28 :18 « … Tout pouvoir m'a été donné dans le ciel et sur la terre ». Ce qui veut dire qu’Il n’est pas seulement obéi par les hommes et les démons mais que même les anges du ciel sont sous ses ordres et tout le pouvoir divin est maintenant entre ses mains.
